Portland Arts and Crafts to be at "Crafty Underdog" event, Mission Theatre, Sunday June 12

A competitor to "Crafty Wonderland", Crafty Underdog, will be presenting a great excuse to get out of the house on a Sunday afternoon.  There will be so much going on, it's hard to know where to start in describing it.  But I'll try.  First has to be some incredible arts and crafts from some of Portland's most creative people.  There's beer.  Good beer.  And cocktails.  And 4 live bands.  And a film-maker's showcase.  A chance to make your own crafts.  Fun stuff for kids to do. McMenamin's food and snacks.  Balcony seating.  Family-friendly environment.  Did I mention it's free?  No?  Well, that too!

Portland Arts and Crafts will be there.  We'll be selling one of our specialities: magnetic art, of the framed and unframed varieties.  We'll have a special selection of hundreds of images made especially for the show.  For our magnetic art, we combine art prints (sometimes over 100 years old, sometimes retro, and sometimes modern) with flexible magnets or magnetic frames, to create unique objects of art that you know you can easily "hang" (you've got a fridge, right?), and you can easily afford (prices range from $1 to $5 for most pieces).  This time, we'll be featuring art from local artists and photographers, as well as images from our vast collection.  Everywhere we show these, people love them, so be sure to check out our booth there.

Also, if you are an artist or craftsperson who wants to expand the distribution of your work, be sure to stop by and chat.  We've been expanding our distribution of small art prints and magnets, and hope to expand into different product categories this year as part of our drive to help Portland artists turn their work into a stream of income.

Don't like crafts?  It's still your best bet so far as I can tell.  Live music, short films, free admission, great food and drink, happy kids running around?  What were *you* planning on doing that afternoon?
